Nicholas Rea is a Scottish born artist now living in London. He trained at Croydon College of Art, St. Martin’s and the Royal Academy and initially pursued a varied career as a designer, before working full-time as a painter. He was inspired to create an artist’s book after a visit to the Sackner Collection of Concrete and Visual Poetry in Miami. His interest in this project grew out of a desire to paint a series of watercolor images to accompany extracts from Rimbaud’s Une saison en enfer, a work which had for a long time fascinated him. – Facts taken from a Pamphlet included with the book, which was exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum’s National Art Library in 1991. The pamphlet also contains the text of the book as well as the translation.
