(Genest, Louise) The Nautilus Book. A unique artist’s book/object by Louise Genest. Montreal. 1997. Box – 10.25” x 2.5”. A half Nautilus shell with a blank book of mitsumata tissue in a perfect binding of full partly tanned parchment for the cover. In a custom-made box of South-East Asian dark blue handmade paper moulded to the shape of the shell; outer box of dark blue moiré cloth. Matching lid with oyster shell held on with 10K gold wire.
A stunning sculptural book, with the soft book flowing wave-like out of the glowing shell in a continuation of the circular design.
