Printed in Poliphilus, with Blado, and handset on Zerkall mouldmade. Garrick Palmer’s wood engravings all printed from the wood. No. 17 in an edition of 240 copies signed and numbered by the artist.
Unique binding by Stuart Brockman in April 2009. Signed with his label on a front free endpaper. Book sewn on four tapes; spine glued and shaped; laminated cushioned boards made up and laced on. Red sewn endbands. Spine lined with unbleached cotton and acid free paper. Covered in full green French Levant with boards stabilized. Design of gilt areas, gold tooling and various colored goatskin circular onlays. All edges gilt. Paste paper endpapers handmade. Housed in a deep red velvet lined green buckram dropback box, with recessed lettering label on the spine. Fine.
“The design shows circles that represent the moon and sun. The waves depict rolling hillsides; within the gilt areas there are tree shapes. The gold lines are representative of the linear nature of the illustrations within the book.” – Stuart Brockman.
