Ruscha was born in 1937 in Nebraska. An interesting example of an early item from this well-known Hyper-Realist, who records ordinary details of urban contemporary life (generally in California). In May-March 2006, Ruscha had a major retrospective of his work at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.   Examples of his work are at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC; Metropolitan Museum of Art;  Getty Library; Yale University and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
