Done in the spirit of the Latin American street-market cordells (books-on-a-string and sometimes in trays). “These booklets are a group Schumann drew for Christmas 2009 in the spirit and tradition of Hispanic Cordells. These are chapbooks made from one sheet of paper folded into eight pages plus a cover. They are hawked by poets in Latin American marketplaces strung up pinned on lines like laundry or arrayed on trays similar to those that were carried by cigarette girls. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. The crayon cover drawings were scanned in New Hampshire and printed using an Epson Stylus NX515 on Mohawk Via cream linen 65lb cover by Andrew Miller-Brown who also did the letterpress printing. Chapbooks sewn in differenct color thread. Display pocket panels are Fabriano Miliani Ingress. Each booklet is 8p. plus illustrated wrappers. 6 booklets laid in colored envelope-type folder against the three colored sides of a strong 3-sided navy bookcloth folder with title on top side and colophon details on the inside.  Light tan bristol slipcase  printed with woodtype title. No. 89 in an edition of 120 copies, signed by Peter Schumann. Fine. Done in the spirit of the Latin American street-market cordells (books-on-a-string and sometimes in trays). “These booklets are a group Schumann drew for Christmas 2009 in the spirit and tradition of Hispanic Cordells. These are chapbooks made from one sheet of paper folded into eight pages plus a cover. They are hawked by poets in Latin American marketplaces strung up pinned on lines like laundry or arrayed on trays similar to those that were carried by cigarette girls. The crayon cover drawings were scanned in New Hampshire and printed using an Epson Stylus NX515 on Mohawk Via cream linen 65lb cover by Andrew Miller-Brown who also did the letterpress printing. Chapbooks sewn in differenct color thread. Display pocket panels are Fabriano Miliani Ingress. Each booklet is 8p. plus illustrated wrappers. 6 booklets laid in colored envelope-type folder against the three colored sides of a strong 3-sided navy bookcloth folder with title on top side and colophon details on the inside.  Light tan bristol slipcase  printed with woodtype title. No. 89 in an edition of 120 copies, signed by Peter Schumann. Fine. Done in the spirit of the Latin American street-market cordells (books-on-a-string and sometimes in trays). “These booklets are a group Schumann drew for Christmas 2009 in the spirit and tradition of Hispanic Cordells. These are chapbooks made from one sheet of paper folded into eight pages plus a cover. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed. Done in the spirit of the Latin American street-market cordells (books-on-a-string and sometimes in trays). “These booklets are a group Schumann drew for Christmas 2009 in the spirit and tradition of Hispanic Cordells. These are chapbooks made from one sheet of paper folded into eight pages plus a cover. They are hawked by poets in Latin American marketplaces strung up pinned on lines like laundry or arrayed on trays similar to those that were carried by cigarette girls. The crayon cover drawings were scanned in New Hampshire and printed using an Epson Stylus NX515 on Mohawk Via cream linen 65lb cover by Andrew Miller-Brown who also did the letterpress printing. Chapbooks sewn in differenct color thread. Display pocket panels are Fabriano Miliani Ingress. Each booklet is 8p. plus illustrated wrappers. 6 booklets laid in colored envelope-type folder against the three colored sides of a strong 3-sided navy bookcloth folder with title on top side and colophon details on the inside.  Light tan bristol slipcase  printed with woodtype title. No. 89 in an edition of 120 copies, signed by Peter Schumann. Fine. Done in the spirit of the Latin American street-market cordells (books-on-a-string and sometimes in trays). “These booklets are a group Schumann drew for Christmas 2009 in the spirit and tradition of Hispanic Cordells. These are chapbooks made from one sheet of paper folded into eight pages plus a cover. They are hawked by poets in Latin American marketplaces strung up pinned on lines like laundry or arrayed on trays similar to those that were carried by cigarette girls. Letterpress printing and binding by The Lumino Press, Santa Barbara,  editioned by hand on a Vandercook UNI cylinder press. Centaur and Futura fonts used throughout. The poem, “Unearthed”  is printed letterpress on 8 sheets of handmade overbeaten abaca paper plus one sheet of ochre-pigmented kozo paper, interleaved with eight mixed-media prints from the Unearthed: Patagonia series of paintings. Each print is individually overpainted with watercolor. A  journal chapbook, notes from below, rests in a niche at the bottom of a wooden box. Graphite sketches of vessels accompany journal entries, and are printed on Khadi cotton rag paper handmade in Tamil Nadu. Ink washes individually added to each book. The chapbook's cover is terra cotta Cave paper, printed with a line drawing of a fingerprint. All in a box of straight-grain pine accented with paduak or wenge wood, and covered with a lid of tumbled Siena travertine marble. Each book cover is individually painted and signed. New. Both books signed and numbered by Mary Heeber. Fine. Heebner writes in the chapbook: ‘notes’ about this edition: “The origin of this project began with two consecutive trips to Chilean Patagonia. Riding horses through the rugged terrain of the Patagonian Sierra, we came upon middens and petrified remnants of ancient forests. In Last Hope Sound, Puerto Natales, I sketched a collection of messen, the indigenous Mapuche amphoras and ceremonial vessels. Later in my Santa Barbara studio I made two series of paintings: Below and Beneath and Unearthed.
