Exposed second goatskin layer to the boards to simulate brickwork. Hand sewn end bands, goatskin doublures and suede endpapers. Edges decorated with acrylics. Distressed handmade paper label to the spine. Presented in a cloth covered drop-back box with suede lining and hand-made paper label. Fine.

(Sande Wascher James) A Half A Cent A year. Artist’s book by Sande Wascher-James. Whidbey Island, Washington. 2011. 8.25” x 5.375”. Open for display – 12” wide. In the T format with a sewn signature attached to each board and a double-page size color image in the center of the book: this image is double-sided. The folded part of the book is printed by Booksmart Studio on 17” x 22” Innova Photo Smooth Cotton DUO paper. The centerfold has an image of President Obama signing the Fair Pay Act in 2008 and the reverse has an image of President Kennedy signed the Fair Pay Act in 1963. There are also photographs taken at other events. Text printed on Innova by the author on an inkjet printer (specially formulated for this use). Reproduced images of a Liberty fabric and some stamps of American women have been used. Each signature has 12 pages. Boards are covered in black bookcloth with 3 pennies imbedded in each board. Box with separate lid covered in black bookcloth. A signed edition of 18 copies. Fine.
